Charity Fundraiser

Charity fundraisers organise events and activities to encourage people to donate to causes and organisations and are passionate and believe in the charity they work for. They need to have sales, good communication, IT and social media skills. Be resourceful and have the ability to build and keep professional relationships and be creative thinking. There would also be a need for admin and project management skills.

  • Look for potential funding sponsors
  • Plan and organise events and activities
  • Keep records of all sponsors
  • Organise campaigns to help lead to donations
  • Recruit and train volunteers

There are a vast number of charities that employ fundraisers ranging from medical, animal, children, environmental and charities that support families and homeless people. The organisations range from small local charities to large institutions like Cancer Research that operate across the world.

You could be working outside asking people to sign up and donate to charities on a monthly basis or call at people’s homes. Work from different venues for events and activities or work in an office where you would be using the phone to contact people to sponsor the charity.

Working Hours

37-39 hours – can also be part time hours and usually evenings and weekends.

Starting from £20,000 – £60,000 for experienced fundraisers.

Some organisations will give full training where you can work your way up to a higher position. For more experienced roles you would need a degree. Many charity fundraisers have A-levels and hold a degree.
